Cabin, January (Four)

As you can see, it was a cold weekend when I took this. I had to be the first out of the cabin in the morning because I didn’t want the pristine snow stepped all over by my cabinmates. I was hoping for some shots that would convey the cold and emptiness of a frozen northern lake.

As I walked down the path from the cabin to the lake, this came into view. In the summer, those boards go between the shore and the dock that stretches out into the lake. In the winter, when the dock is out, the boards help you get from the shore and onto the frozen lake. The way the light hit the boards and the blue of the snow says nothing but loneliness and cold.
