Driftwood, Thomas Cove (Two)

Once again I found myself next to a big piece of driftwood. This time it was almost an entire tree — branches and everything — that drew my attention. Often you’ll find driftwood in small pieces because of the punishment they take from the water and weather. This piece was in a small cove, sheltered from the big waves and weather.

I was trying to get an interesting angle to shoot this. I find that if you don’t fill the frame with it, it becomes a rather uninteresting photo. So I walked around it trying to find the right shot and found a spot where I could fill the frame with the interesting texture and geometry of the wood and minimize background distraction.
